maybe nanu was interviewing/interrogating him at the time and filing reports? i also kind of love this dichotomy because au nanu was probably a lot more sober and less depressing to be around back when ardbert was a mess, and now after [mysterious thing that happened with the police] he's occasionally his own burnt out drunken mess. maybe ardbert can be like HEY I WAS THERE ONCE... DON'T DO THAT. they can be good foils?
